1. Overview
The Civic Standard Foregrip Bipod is a dual-purpose accessory designed for stability and control. Every unit has been individually Bench-Vetted to correct common factory defects, ensuring the hardware is mission-ready before it reaches your shop.
2. The “Bench-Vetted” Distinction
Standard factory units often suffer from “Ghost Deployment”—accidental leg release under recoil or impact. We have addressed this via:
- Tension Adjustment: Internal spring tension has been manually tuned to ensure the locking mechanism remains seated until intentionally activated.
- Cycle Testing: Every unit has been stress-tested (the “Deadblow” test) to verify that the legs will not deploy under violent jarring or barricade loading.
- Hardware Inspection: Pivot points and latch surfaces are inspected for burs or manufacturing debris that cause “gritty” deployment.
3. Installation Procedure
- Clear the Firearm: Ensure the chamber is empty, the magazine is removed, and the firearm is on safe.
- Positioning: Locate a clear section of Picatinny rail on the handguard. Note that moving the bipod further forward increases stability but may affect balance.
- Mounting: Loosen the mounting bolt and slide the bipod onto the rail. Ensure the recoil lug is seated firmly between the rail slots.
- Final Tension: Tighten the mounting bolt using a standard hex key or flathead driver.
- Guideline: Ensure the unit is immobilized. Do not over-torque to the point of stripping the mounting hardware.
- Clearance Check: Verify the bipod does not interfere with weapon lights, lasers, or sling attachments.
4. Operation & Deployment
- Deployment: Press the primary release button (typically located at the rear or side of the grip). The legs will spring-load into the down position.
- Stowing: Manually compress the legs back into the grip housing until the locking mechanism clicks into place.
- Reliability Note: Due to the increased spring tension from our vetting process, the release button may require a firm, deliberate press. This is intentional to prevent accidental deployment.
5. Maintenance & Safety
- Recoil Check: Firearm vibrations can loosen mounting hardware over time. Check the rail attachment bolt periodically.
- Lubrication: Keep the leg hinges and release button free of excessive grit. If deployment becomes sluggish, apply a small drop of dry lubricant to the internal springs.
- Usage: While ruggedized, the bipod is designed for stabilized shooting. Do not use the deployed legs as a pry bar or for non-shooting leverage.
